Stress and How to Treat it

Stress is a common factor that affects many people all over the world. Stress and anxiety go hand in hand in plaguing people. Having stress and being able to treat it can be done. There are steps to treating it and also preventing it from affecting your life too much.

Treating Stress

Stress comes in daily life in forms of work related pressure and home stress. Although many people believe that stress generates solely from work, home life can also add to it or be the larger factor to it. Stress and anxiety can trigger far reaching consequences which is why it is important to treat it.

One of the more effective ways of treating stress and managing it is to be realistic about it. It happens in life and when it does the best way to treat it is to either avoid it or resolve it. Avoiding stress and resolving it are two different matters entirely. You can avoid stress by being more meticulous with work and doing a better job which means you will not be reprimanded more or criticized as often. Avoiding stress in the home can be by assigning house work to other people in the home and keeping things in order. Keep work and home life separate if possible.

There are others ways to treat stress. Alternative medicine helps to relax a person through herbs, aromatherapy and massages. Regular sessions will benefit a person by helping him feel loose and more relaxed. So make sure you that once you seek a treatment, you stick with it.

How Do You Cope With Stress In Our Modern World

The term stress is now part and parcel of our life. It is not possible for one to do without stress in our present world. Although stress is beneficial to man, its negative effects are also enormous. Hardly can minutes pass without one experiencing one form of stress or the other. Whenever we go about for our various daily chores, we encounter one form of stress or the other.

Do you know that stress can be both good and bad to man? Yes! Stress can be beneficial and harmful to man. Normally, we need some little amount of stress if we must live. On the other hand, when stress becomes too much for us, it becomes a disease.

When stress is beyond the coping capability of an individual, it turns from being beneficial to being harmful. Thus, enormous doses of stress is pathological while small doses of stress is very vital for maintenance of normal life processes.

Just as the saying that one man's poison is another man's meat; what could be stress to an individual could turn out not to be stress to another individual. To some individuals, going to the stadium to watch a football match might just be fun but for another person going to the stadium might just be stress. Some students will see reading as stress while to some, reading could be noting but fun.

Ironically, as man is embracing the modern world, with much more sophisticated gadgets to make life easier; the amount of stress we encounter in our daily life continues to increase. Ordinarily, one should expect that stress should be reducing with modernization. But the reverse is the case. I wonder why a serious issue like stress is still unrecognized as a killer in this our present generation. Stress worsens the various sicknesses we suffer in life.

One thing is certain - we cannot avoid stress in our various life endeavors. Since stress is an inevitable part of our life, we must learn to manage and cope with stress.

How Does Stress Affect Health?

Stress affects health in several ways and unfortunately not one of them affects health in a good way. Here is a look at the various adverse ways that stress affects your health.

1. Stress Causes Insomnia

Stress can make you unable to sleep properly and in some cases will lead to total insomnia. Even if you can manage to get some sleep it will still be of a poor quality and reduce your vitality and productivity.

2. Stress Saps You Of Energy

Stress will sap you of all of the energy that you need to function properly. When this is combined with the inability to sleep properly it becomes a vicious cycle.

3. Stress Affects Your Attitude To Food

Stress can do this to you in one of two ways and unfortunately, once again, neither of them is in a positive way. Some people can be driven to stress eat and on the other hand some people can’t manage to eat anything when faced with the pressures of stress.

4. Stress Can Lead To Unhealthy Habits

This is one of the most destructive parts of stress where it leads to a downward spiral. For example, you may feel stressed and then you decide to have an alcoholic drink or smoke cigarettes, etc. Since these already have a damaging effect on health and on the mind, when coupled with an already badly stressed person it can be very harmful.

In response to the question “How does stress affect health?” it is absolutely certain that the answer is stress affects health in a very damaging way. Therefore it is absolutely essential that you find ways to control stress, relax and unwind.

Humor, Laughter And Wit

Did you know that laughter is contagious? Would you like to be a carrier or are you already one? A good sense of humor is free to anyone who is willing to accept it. Laughter will keep us younger. We must be able to see the humor in events that other wise might turn into stress. Studies and researchers have discovered that laughter affects the body in many good ways and we don't even realize it. Humor lets you feel in control of your situations and make them seem manageable. It will allow you to release anger, fear, and stress. As you know any of these can do harm to your body over a period of time.

Humor is very important to our mental health. Humor makes us feel good. It will increase our energy and with this we can do things we might not otherwise do. Humor affects our behavior. We may talk more, touch others and even be able to make eye contact with others. Without humor our minds would become stale and this could lead to depression. Having humor helps us to replace depressing emotions with good feelings.

If you practice good humor you will not be feeling depressed, angry, anxious, or resentful. Humor gives us the ability to connect with others. We are programmed to laugh. Humor can help us cope with bad experiences. It can help us to stay focused at difficult times.

When we hit the bumps in life, we can cope by focusing on our humor and our past experiences. You might ask if you can expand your sense of humor and if so how? The first thing you might do is look around and see what absurd and silly activities are around you everyday. Watch children and you will find that they are delighted and amused by just ordinary things.

Expose yourself to funny things, comedy programs, joke books, etc... Hang around with people that are funny and enjoy humor. Remind yourself daily to enjoy yourself and have fun. Avoid things that make you feel sad and unhappy. If you have negative emotions, use laughter as a bulletproof vest. You can reset your emotions with just a little bit of humor.

Research has shown laughter with numerous positive outcomes. There are no known negative side effects to laughter. A little chuckle each day will keep us laughing a little longer. A good laugh can release anger, fear, and stress. All of these can cause harm to the body over a period of time. We need to use the power of smiles and laughter to help heal as well as prevention. Laughter is a good medicine. No matter what adversities we have in our lives we must have room for laughter. If possible we can use our adversities to our advantage in a humorous way.

We know that it is easy to laugh when we feel good. It's even easier to feel good when we laugh. The problem comes if you are angry or hurting. The more laughter you have in your life the less stress you'll have. You may need to actually go on a laughter hunt. Search everything in your life for just a bit of joy.

Read funny articles and books even the comics in the newspaper. You might get a few stares but laugh out loud at a joke you overheard or was told. You might even turn into a clown. Be reasonable but take every opportunity to lighten up and be silly. Like I said be reasonable, whether you are with your family, alone or co-workers, let go.

Stressed Out by Debt? How to Find Relief

Debt is something that many people in this day and age know far too much about. If you're reading this article, then chances are you're one of them.

But you may or may not be aware that there are a number of options available to help relieve some of the debt stress that you experience on a daily basis.

Some people choose to ignore their debt problems - they ignore the phone calls and letters from creditors, as if their debts will magically disappear - while others choose to take measures to free themselves of their financial burden by consolidating their debts or finding some other workable solution.

Getting relief from your overwhelming debt can turn your life around and alleviate the stress that is associated with being heavily in debt.

It's wise to talk to a financial advisor, or other expert, who can give you ideas for improving your current financial situation.

Many people have found that debt consolidation is their best option. By consolidating all of your debts and only having one payment every month, you'd be surprised at how much less stressful your life will be.

A good debt consolidation company can help you get your life back on the right track and begin taking care of those debts, instead of ignoring them, as so many people end up doing.

If you do choose debt consolidation, you'll no longer have to worry about the enormous late and over-the-limit fees that many creditors impose. That, in itself, can be a huge relief for people trying to get out of old debts that have been growing larger by the month.

There is nothing wrong with asking for some type of help to find a solution to your debt. However, there IS something wrong with blowing off your creditors and ignoring their phone calls.

Many people are afraid or ashamed, and don't want to deal with their creditors, but this is a serious mistake that can cost you big bucks and loads of stress. By actually speaking with them, you might find that they can offer you a solution to your debt problems.

Help for your debt stress is right around the corner, but it won't just come knocking at your door. It's up to you to get the help you need to find the debt, and stress, relief that you deserve.

Take control of your debt by making arrangements with your creditors yourself or through a debt consolidation company, so you can start enjoying life more than ever before - without the stress caused by the heavy burden of debt.

The Basic Human Being

If you have ever thought that there was something more to your life than the everyday hustle? As children we have huge dreams, anything is possible, and the only thing that matters is fun. Children live in the moment, when they want to do something they just can't wait! This feeling all kids have and their way of life may get covered up and forgotten as they grow older but it never goes away. Inside all of us is an inner child, sometimes called the basic Self in order to succeed in life we must get to know this basic human being.

In his book Way of the Peaceful Warrior Dan Millman learns valuable life lessons about the seven levels consciousness and the three selves. On his journey Dan discovers that the basic self closely resembles the characteristic personality of a child of a four to seven year old. Even though your basic self has more confidence and strength than a child the qualities are the same. Just as a child, the basic self is closely in tune with the physical body but not so in touch with the conscious brain. It takes time for a child to learn to listen to their conscious and their sense of right and wrong.

Our Basic self is the source of bodily wisdom, and is where our instinct, intuition and gut feelings come from. The basic self is in charge of our body, it uses the involuntary nervous system to generate our energy for life and keep us out of danger. Just like a young child the basic self is open to subconscious energy healing.

When our subconscious is content and the basic self is relaxed we are likely to have more energy, inspiration and playfulness. We tend to be more loyal yet spontaneous with much greater determination. Sometime we let our conscious get control of us, when we are working too much or there is too much stress. When this happens we ignore and suppress our basic self, devaluing it so that it becomes blocked. The basic self will withdraw and sometimes sabotage our bodies, this will lower our immune system giving us a higher risk for illness.

In order to stay healthy and create a higher state of awareness, we must become conscious of our subconscious. Listen to your instincts, follow your gut feelings and take time everyday to clear your thoughts. By challenging ourselves we a can actually have more energy and sense of self worth, in the long run this will lead to better overall health.

Stress & Health Disorders

Stress will always be in our lives in some way or another. Some of us will deal with stress much better than other. But nevertheless l would assume that most people, if not all, could do without this emotion or mental and physical disorder. Obviously this is more likely to be an impossibility, yet there are proven methods of copying with and containing those stressful moments in our life to a minimum, and training ourselves to respond to and not have a reaction to a given situation. Some of the more noticeable pressures that influence stress, which l have experienced through my life, and there are many, are divorce, bereavement, loss of job or income, sickness in the family such as cancer are just a few that have been factors of provoking my stress. Certainly there are various levels of stress which can be damaging and disruptive to our lives. I would suspect that there are many people who have experienced what l call severely high stress related problems or events, that have caused serious physical and mental illness even to the extent of death.

As l have mentioned some of us can deal with it better than others having the ability to shield off the emotional penetration of stress, and l suspect that most of these types of people would fall into a category of very healthy and physically fit enabling them to cope far better than someone who was unhealthy and unfit, maybe even depressed. So is there a clue here to one way of dealing with the effects of stress and what it can do to us? In my opinion, yes, it just seems to make sense to me, but l am not a specialist in this field so l may be right of base, l will let you ponder on that thought. One form of stress that l witnessed when l was younger, my mother knew this married couple who were like grandmother and grandfather to me. They were what you call the perfect couple.

They were so close that they were as one in all things they did, they had been married for more than fifty years, so you get the idea. then as time steals your strength and aging occurs, the inevitable happens and one of them passed away. The remaining partner suffered extreme severe stress related problems and obviously destroyed there will to survive, sadly this was the case, thus after around two weeks they also passed away. The point is there are so many disguises of stress that its hard to comprehend. I am sorry that l just do not have any remedies for this subject, but in our modern world we do have so much information we can gather from so many sources to help minimize, control and cope with the the effects of stress in our lives.
